Juvenile Court Program
The Juvenile Court Program is a county department operating under the authority of the Presiding Juvenile Judge (as appointed by the Chief Judge of the judicial district). The Juvenile Court Program provides a number of services and programs in collaboration with other county agencies, law enforcement, and community-based providers relating to youth delinquents in Dane County.
Anesis Therapy
Anesis Therapy (ACMFT) is a state certified DHS clinic that provides mental health, substance abuse and case management services. Anesis was established to bring more cultural competent mental health care in the Dane County area. ACMFT is comprised of racially, culturally, and linguistically diverse staff that bring insight into the dimensions of identity that they seek to address at their clinic.
University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics' Behavioral Health Youth And Family (UWHC-BHYF)
The University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics' Behavioral Health Youth And Family (UWHC-BHYF) in Madison is a comprehensive alcohol and drug evaluation program providing screening, assessments, intervention, and referral services for youth and their families.
Connections Counseling
Connections Counseling is a treatment facility in Madison, Wisconsin which specializes in mental health and substance abuse services. They provide outpatient options for those who enroll. Briarpatch Youth Services
Adolescence can be a tough time, not just for kids, but for parents as well. From the internet to drugs and alcohol, there are a lot of issues that can cause conflict. Briarpatch has served more than 10,000 runaway, homeless and at-risk youth in the Madison area. But it's as much for parents as it is for teens.
Commonwealth Youth Programs
Common Wealth has been helping teens take steps toward economic success since 1991. Our goal is to create opportunities for youth to develop and apply employment and financial skills that will help them now and far into the future. Our participants also build a host of life skills ranging from prioritizing to problem-solving that enable them to exercise more control over their lives. Our award-winning programs provide teens with employment and financial education, job placements, and supportive mentoring.
Family Service Madison - Steps to Success
Steps to Success day treatment is a program that provides comprehensive mental health teenagers-kids service to middle school youth, male and female, ages 11-14 who are struggling in their home, school and/or community environments due to mental health and behavioral challenges. These children are unable to sustain full school programming and require an intensive mental health intervention to get back on track. Youth may present with both mental health and juvenile justice issues.
Operation Fresh Start
Operation Fresh Start provides Dane County youth a path to self-sufficiency through education and job training. In Dane County, there are over 3,000 disconnected youth, ages 16 – 24. The vast majority of them have not completed high school and many lack the connections and resources needed to succeed in life. Operation Fresh Start (OFS) is here to help these youth find a path forward and a new beginning.
Mentoring Positives
Mentoring Positives Inc. (MP) is an innovative, referral-based mentoring program that works directly with kids and families throughout Dane County and its surrounding areas.
Journey Mental Health- Youth/Families
Family/youth services for behavioral, mental health, and substance use problems are provided by licensed Master and Psychologist level therapists. Service modalities include family therapy, individual, and group work. Psychiatry services are integrated into treatment interventions. Supportive counseling and psychiatry services may be offered for children/youth who struggle to maintain psychiatric stability in the community.
Public Defenders
The Wisconsin State Public Defender's Office (SPD) provides legal representation for persons who are accused of crimes or are defendants in certain specified civil matters, and who meet statutory financial eligibility criteria.
Dane County TimeBank
The TimeBank's Youth Court Program works with high school-aged youth who have made a mistake, and could potentially receive a ticket for the incident. Instead of ticketing, the police officer can refer the youth to our youth court where they are judged by a jury of other students and given a sentence that is restorative and strength-based and increases the youth's skills and support system. When they complete their sentence successfully they avoid receiving their ticket and having something appear on their juvenile record.
YWCA Madison - Restorative Justice Program
The YWCA Madison uses restorative justice as a strategy to address the School-to-Prison Pipeline. The School-to-Prison Pipeline is a process by which students are removed from the school for disciplinary infractions. These students are often put on a path to the criminal justice system. The racial disparities in school discipline directly correlate with the racial disparities in the criminal justice system. We use restorative justice to provide alternative discipline models in schools to keep students in school and out of the justice system.
Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP)
OJJDP, a component of the Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice, accomplishes its mission by supporting states, local communities, and tribal jurisdictions in their efforts to develop and implement effective programs for juveniles. The Office strives to strengthen the youth justice system's efforts to protect public safety, hold offenders accountable, and provide services that address the needs of youth and their families.
Through its components, OJJDP sponsors research, program, and training initiatives; develops priorities and goals and sets policies to guide federal juvenile justice issues; disseminates information about juvenile justice issues, and awards funds to states to support local programming.

RISE Wisconsin is a nonprofit organization located in Madison, WI that serves individuals, children, and families with mental health issues to be successful in their homes, schools, and communities.

Restorative Justice is an alternative way of looking at wrongdoing that gives people a chance to make things right. In Dane County, we are committed to implementing and expanding restorative justice opportunities for young people ages 12-16.
Madison Spartans Youth Basketball
An award-winning boys and girls basketball program. The Madison Spartan Basketball program is known for outstanding teams that possess speed; athleticism; character; and aggressive, in-your-face, man-to-man defense. The Madison Spartans Basketball program was founded in 1988. The objective of the development of the basketball program was to give at-risk, low-income youth exposure and opportunities to organized tournament basketball play. The program hopes to teach life choice skills, honor, and integrity through the use of basketball.
