You can also visit The Beacon Day Resource Center for those who are experiencing homelessness in downtown Madison. The Center offers assistance and support seven days a week.
The Bartillon Shelter is a City of Madison and Dane County collaboration for a purpose-built shelter that will serve primarily men in the community who are experiencing homelessness. The Dane County Job Center is open Monday through Friday and provides job searching resources, workshops, and additional training.
NOTICE OF FUNDING OPPORTUNITY
The 2026 County Capital Budget includes $2.0 million to provide a grant to an entity that can purchase of a parcel of land in Dane County to establish grounds with the intended purpose to provide lawful sleeping options for unhoused persons, such as a campground or similar arrangement.
A campground is defined as a ‘designed, maintained, intended or used for the purpose of providing campsites with or without charge for temporary overnight sleep accommodations’ in accordance with Wisconsin Administrative Code ATCP 79.03(3). The lot, parcel, or tract of land would be intended or used for the purpose of supplying a location or accommodations for more than three (3) sites and may include buildings intended for use as part of the program.
Awards made through this application process will be administered by the Dane County Department of Human Services Division of Housing Access and Affordability (DCDHS-HAA). It expected that all funding awarded under this application would be expended by December 31, 2028.
Dane County Department of Human Services has issued an application for project financing. All application materials must be submitted by 12:00 p.m. CST (noon) on September 9, 2026.
