The following boards, committees, and commissions oversee or report to various portions of the Department of Human Services.

ADRC Governing Board

Oversees the mission, goals, policies, and procedures of the Dane County Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC).

Area Agency on Aging

The designated County Aging Unit appointed to act as a planning and policy development body for programs for older adults in the county that are funded by the federal Older Americans Act and state supplemental funding.

Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) Coordination Committee

The CCS Coordination Committee advises and assists Dane County in developing and overseeing the quality of CCS services and the protection of client rights. The CCS Coordination Committee includes persons receiving CCS services, county staff, service providers, community mental health and substance use advocates, family members, and other interested parties. At least one-third of the membership is to be clients. The CCS Coordination Committee meets at least quarterly. Meetings are open to anyone who wants to attend.

Health & Human Needs Committee

Monitors, coordinates, and advises the county board on all aspects of human service policy and delivery in Dane County. They act as the supervisory committee for the Dane County Youth Commission, the Area Agency on Aging, the Veterans Service Office, and the Human Services Department. They also act as the policy oversight committee for the Dane County Housing Authority, Dane County Humane Society, and the specialized transportation commission.

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Commission

Provides oversight for the CDBG and HOME programs. The commission is charged with addressing policy issues related to housing and community development and with recommending eligible projects, activities, and contracts to the County Board of Supervisors and County Executive.

Human Services Board

Oversees short and long-range planning, budget advice, program evaluation, and policy analysis for the Dane County Human Services department, alongside the Health and Human Needs Committee.

Long-Term Support Committee

Advises the Health & Human Needs Committee of the County Board and the Human Services Board on long-term support, Badger Prairie Health Care Center, and other program areas pertaining to the operation of the Adult Community Services Division of the Dane County Human Services Department in policy planning and budgetary matters.

Youth Commission

Encourages and promotes youth participation and responsibility in planning and decision-making. They also conduct youth need and service assessments and work with agency personnel and residents, including youth, in establishing community priorities, planning, and program development.

Commission on Sensitive Crimes

The Dane County Commission on Sensitive Crimes (COSC) is an advisory commission created by Dane County Ordinance.  The Commission serves as a forum to discuss issues relating to sensitive crimes in Dane County.

Community Restorative Court

The Community Restorative Court (CRC) provides young adults (ages 17-25) charged with misdemeanor the opportunity to have their case addressed in a Restorative Justice Circle. The Court works with victims, respondents, and community stakeholders to provide a non-traditional approach to restore balance in neighborhoods affected by crime.
