The Dane County Adult Protective Services Victim Advocate Project (APS VAP) provides advocacy and specialized services to Dane County victims of crime who are elders (age 60 and over) and to adult individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The State of Wisconsin Department of Justice Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funds the Dane County APS VAP. Advocates offer a wide array of specialized services such as in-person assistance, court accompaniment, safety planning and referrals to appropriate resources. Advocates also provide significant emotional support to help victims better understand trauma’s impact and how they can recover mentally, physically and financially.
